COMPANY NEWS: Dirk Verstraten has recently joined the FrontBase Team to head up our European sales efforts. Dirk comes to us from Omnis Software where he was in charge of sales for the Benelux region for the last five years. Dirk will be based in Holland and can be contacted at mailto:dirk@frontbase.com.

SHOW NEWS: In the beginning of the month FrontBase exhibited at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco. Our booth had a great location just outside the huge Apple exhibit. We had a good crowd over the four days and FrontBase received an enthusiastic reception from those in attendance. Apple has committed March 24th as the release date for OS X.

In our booth we had both Qilan from CommonGround www.qilan.com and Omnis Studio from Raining Data www.omnis.net actively connected to FrontBase databases so customers could see FrontBase running under OS X.

For the first time we gave customers a look at nQuest, a new application building tool that we have been developing. The customers' response to this product was very encouraging. You will be hearing more about nQuest as we get closer to releasing it, which should be in the second quarter of this year.

NEW PRICING: Over the last several months many of our customers have provided us with important feedback on our product offering. As a result of that input we have made several changes which we believe better address the needs of our customers. Our new Small Business and Enterprise Licenses include multiple licenses (two and ten respectively), as well as free upgrades and updates for the term of the contract. They even include a high level of technical support. You will also notice that the Enterprise license is a multi-year commitment. We took the opportunity at Macworld to introduce this new pricing, which is effective immediately. Our new product line-up looks like this (in $US).

E-starter package (with security checks) Free
E-business package (with import/export, table caching, backup, raw device driver, encryption and replication client) $ 999.00
Small Business package (with clustering, replication master, and QuickStep) includes two server licenses, replication and cluster design and configuration assistance, and Preferred technical support for one year $14,999.00
Enterprise package (all features) includes ten server licenses, as well as Select technical support, and all upgrades and updates at no additional charge for three years $49,999.00
Developer package (full product without deployment rights) Free

We also have an Embedded option for 3rd party ISV/OEM developers who would like to incorporate FrontBase into their solution. And we have added several new support programs to better meet customer requests. You can review all of the new pricing at: FrontBase store

CALENDAR: At the end of this month FrontBase will be exhibiting at the LinuxWorld Expo in New York, January 31st through February 2nd at the Jacob Javitz Convention Center. We will be located in booth #1046. Please stop by the booth if you are planning to attend the show.
