FrontBase Announces FrontBase Adaptor for WebObjects 5

New adaptor gives WebObjects 5 developers access to FrontBase databases.

Foothill Ranch, CA (June 12, 2001) - FrontBase, Inc., the developers of FrontBase™, the first scalable relational database for Mac OS X, today announced the FrontBase Adaptor for WebObjects 5, an OS X plug-in that lets WebObjects 5 developers use FrontBase relational database servers in their applications. FrontBase is the first outside vendor that has provided a solution for Apple Computer’s WebObjects 5 development platform, which was dramatically rewritten to take advantage of pure Java.

The FrontBase Adaptor for WebObjects 5 supports all of the features of EOModeler, such as table creation, schema synchronization, and reverse engineering of models. This adaptor also customizes table maintenance statements for SQL 92 compliance, giving WebObjects 5 developers the ability to add the enterprise strength of FrontBase database to their applications.

"With FrontBase and WebObjects 5, you can now develop and deploy database applications on Mac OS X using our robust, scalable database," said Geert Clemmensen, founder and CEO of FrontBase, Inc. "This combination provides developers with a world-class solution that can scale to meet the needs of any business application."

"Mac OS X's standards-based foundation combined with WebObjects 5 makes it easy for any Java developer to create incredibly powerful server applications," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. "We are excited that Frontbase's full support for both WebObjects 5 and Mac OS X makes it even easier for our customers to deploy scalable solutions running entirely on Apple hardware or virtually any Java-compatible server."

Pricing and Availability

The FrontBase Adaptor for WebObjects 5 is available now as a beta release, with a full release scheduled for release in June, and will be bundled with the FrontBase database software on its release. All FrontBase products are available as an on-line download. Pricing for the FrontBase database software license ranges from free deployment versions to $49,999 enterprise wide licensing.
