Database Company to Move HQ to Seattle, Adding new Sales Offices
Los Angeles, June 18, 2002: FrontBase, Inc. today announced plans to relocate its US Corporate Headquarters from Foothill Ranch, California to its current US Engineering Division in Seattle, Washington in November 2002. The move brings support and interface engineering into the same facility, and also eliminates duplicate administrative functions and the associated office expense. In anticipation of the move, the Company on Friday laid off nonessential administrative staff in the southern California office. The Foothill Ranch Facility will be the official Corporate Headquarters until the move is complete.
FrontBase, Inc. currently operates out of four locations globally, Los Angeles, Seattle, London, and Copenhagen. This restructuring consolidates US employees into a single location, and places the Company in an area where there is more available engineering talent than in Southern California.
Søren Bruun, Chairman of the Board of FrontBase, Inc. said, "It is not often in business that a company gets to make a move that is positive on so many fronts. This increases our delivery capability to our US customers, while at the same time trimming non-essential operating costs. FrontBase will be positioned for more aggressive technical growth based in Seattle."
Founder and iCEO Geert Clemmensen is bringing his technical leadership back to the Copenhagen core engineering facility to head up the push for accelerated delivery of the Company’s upcoming version FrontBase 4.0. "We announced version 4.0 in May, and since then the demand has been very strong. Being one of the core architects of the product, I feel my best contribution right now will be daily participation with the core engineering team to finalize the release of Version 4.0." he commented, "This restructuring will ultimately allow us to serve our customers more efficiently. Having US support, sales and engineering in the same building makes a for a superlative customer experience.", Clemmensen added, "This is a smart move all round, and we look forward to being headquartered in Seattle."
Larry Barcot, VP of Sales, is also happy about the change. A native of the Seattle area, Barcot was a proponent of the relocation. "From a personal standpoint, I am coming back home, which is nice, but I am really excited about having some great engineering talent just down the hall when we encounter a customer question." Barcot added, "This move gives us some real advantages. We actually end up with more capability, more convenience, at less cost."
Barcot is also excited that the company is in the process of adding field sales in Silicon Valley, Boston, Chicago and Cleveland. "The customer demand in these areas have been exceptionally high, and it makes sense to have a local presence," he said. "Our larger clients appreciate the personal touch only possible with local representatives."
